Cassandra O. says: We are at fort Richardson / JBER Alaska. Over 4000 soldiers from here are deployed. It's definitely an experience. It is an airborne unit. It's what you make of it here I'm not a huge fan yet because I've been pregnant the entire time weve been here so far. We got here in August my husband deployed a few months later. It's something you should look into though for the experience.

There is lots to do in Alaska. The weather has not been too bad and it does not get as dark as people said that it would. Housing on installation? We got housing about a month after we got here. The army and air force are now joined and either could live on both bases. I live in Cherry Hill on the air force side. These are the largest units that gives you a basement and almost 2600 square foot of living space. NO two units in Cherry Hill are the same. The B units house the boiler room in the basement and this cuts out some of the basement space. Other than that, there is ample storage in the units. I absolutely love it! All utilities are included. Housing off installation? Housing off post are very expensive. I do not have much information about this. Since we have such a long winter, utility must be a factor when securing an off base unit. Schools/Special Ed/Education options There are several elementary schools on post. Middle and high school are off post. Schools are based on where you live on base. Activities for Kids There is an indoor activity center for all ages including exercise equipments. There are activities on and off post. The army has a fantastic program called The Edge for age 10+. Awesome program. There are local museum and other kid friendly activities in Anchorage and the surrounding area. On and Off Medical Services There is an urgent care facility close to post. There is an emergency room right on post and is a part of the hospital / medical facility on post. Best and worst/your fave links just google Alaska or Anchorage?「どィャカ lots of stuff to do If you?「どィび「d rather write a blog post about and experience. You can make new friends by joining the toddler groups whether they are library or play groups. I joined the enlisted spouses club and was able to make several friends. There are monthly meetings along with monthly social events. Get involve with your squadron. There are activities that come about monthly. Get to know your spouse?「どィび「s first shirt. Get to know who your key spouse is for your spouse?「どィび「s squadron.
